In December of 2019 I took the JLPT N1 in at The University Of Michigan in Ann Arbor. With the very well-prepared and those immune to anxiety being the exception, I don’t think there are many people who fall victim to test anxiety when they sit down for the timed exam. Although my anxiety caused me to perform poorly on the first section (Vocab and Grammar), I somehow managed to pass the Reading and Listening Comprehension portions well enough to earn my certification. My saving grace was the piles and piles of mock exams I poured over in the months leading up to the exam.
